Senator Wyden comes to Campus

Oh what a night last night.

Went to Salem to visit my friend Kenny from OC.

Lets just say it was fun.

Yesterday Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) came to the UO campus to talk to students about financial aid and scholarships, etc. It was very interesting.

There were two other photographers there. One from Lane Community College’s newspaper “The Torch,” and one staff photographer from ODE. I wasn’t shooting for ODE or anyone, just for fun and my portfolio.

The lighting was really great. The room had a low ceiling that wasn’t 100% white, but had a small warming hue to it.

I used my trusty 40D with 28-135mm 3.5-5.6 IS USM, and the 430EX external flash (with no diffuser) on a flash sync cord (handheld). Bounced the light off of the ceiling.

Not Really News…

I haven’t posted a blog in a long time, and I have the rest of the day to screw around so I decided to write one.

I got a new blackberry. I love it. I can get on facebook, deviantART and everything while at corps, or during class (or during tests haha).

I’ve yet to figure out most of its features though. I want to be able to sync it with my iCal on my MBP.
Thursday night was a great concert by The Helio Sequence. Opening bands were surprisingly good. The first band was Yeltsin (ok), and the second was Audrye Sessions. Sessions was great. They have a great setlist and are very unique. Their new album “Audrye Sessions” came out on iTunes today. I just bought it.

I often change band photos to black and white to get rid of the disgusting orange lighting at the wow hall.

Still a great venue though.

And now onto The Helio Sequence.

It was another great show. very unique. I love their sound. The synth really creates a nice feel, and the drumming is simply amazing.

In other news, the Oregon Crusaders are working hard to be the best in Open class this year. We’re working hard for No. 1.

I’m in the middle of that line.

I didn’t take these photos (since I was marching), but Papa Q used my camera (Rebel G + 50mm 1.8).

Shot on Tri-X 400, developed by me in HC-110 (b).

If you know of any trumpets interested in marching this summer, send them over to http://www.oregoncrusaders.org. We need trumpets, and this year is going to be great!

Or, if you know anyone interested in marching at all, we can teach them how to play brass (I didn’t know how when I joined in 2007!).

It’s a great experience and it will change your life.

I also went skiing a few weekends ago. Brought 3 cameras. It worked out very well, and it was a lot of fun.

I’m going to try to take more skiing photojournalism. It’s a lot of fun to shoot while moving so fast.

That’s about it. Hope everyone is having a good week. Try not to get sick like I am. It sucks.

Have a good one~
